Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert - Kids Reviews

My favorite part was the play market. There are little carts - just the right size for a 4 year old. All the produce and food you can pretend to buy were filled to make them feel real. There was a pizza shop with an oven, cash register, and tables for you to pretend to make pizza.

Upstairs there is a room where they have really old sewing machine, 2 really old typewriters, old dress up clothes, and a really old dictionary. You Moms, I think you'd like it up there.

There is a big mat where you can clip yourself up to a rope and you have to try and get through all the other ropes and

switch ropes at the corners. I liked that part very much. I even did it twice.

There is also a tall yellow tower with seats on it where you grab the rope and pull yourself up in the seat. That was a really cool part. Belle sat in the seat and I pulled her up. Then, I could let go of the rope and she would go down, down, down. She wanted to do it over and over again!

There was another building that had a whole bunch of puzzles. I think parents would really like this part. After that, there was a big racetrack where you could build your own K'Nex car that you could build and race it with your friends. My brothers really liked this part.

The craft area was really cool. AJ and I made crafts. I made a bookmark with Hello Kitty duct tape. There was also a big, old car you can paint. You get a smock and shoe covers and then you can paint it however you like.

I think you would like to go to do all the really cool crafts. I would definitely goSee all of Lynnie's Reviews again. This is a museum for all ages.

Lynnie - Age 11

At the CDM, there is a giant metal dog statue at the entrance right next to the gift shop.

My favorite thing I did was there was big blocks with holes that you can put sticks in. You attach special rings to the sticks. Then, you stick tubes in the rings to make a ball track. The balls were like plastic golf balls and I think they would go down the track faster than real ones.

Another thing I thought was really cool was upstairs. There is a room that looks like what an old house might look like. There was a tv, a sewing machine, 2 type writers, and even a real old dictionary!

I really liked the area where there was a grocery store and a pizza restaurant. In the pizza place, you could make a pizza with dough, sauce, pepperoni, green peppers, pineapple, cheese, and olives. I thought it was really cool that you could mix and match all the toppings and make it the way you want. It had a big oven that looked real, but wasn't actually hot. It did have an oar-looking thing you use to take the pizza in and out.

In the grocery store, a lot of the food I had seen before. The cash register had buttons on it. Lynnie was the only one I saw at the register, so I don't know how much other stuff it can do.

There was another building that had a bunch of puzzles you can do. Some of the puzzles you might know, and some your parents might be able to do.

In another room, there was a table you could build your own K'Nex car on. There was a racetrack in the middle of the room that you raced your car on. I built my own and it was the first car the worker had ever seen there with 4 wheels that worked on the track!

There was a place that measured your height and then you got to put your height on the big chart with everyone else. There were boy magnets and girl magnets.

Something I thought was really cool was a seat you bounced up and down on and tried to blow a ball up to the top of a tube.

I think you might like to go because there was a metal wall with a bunch of kitchen utensils. The wall was magnetic, and you could stick all the utensils to the wall.See all of AJ's Reviews Don't throw them, because it makes it really loud!

AJ - Age 9

My favorite thing was making pizza at the pizza place in the museum. The toppings were made of fabric and foamie pieces. That made it fun.

We went to the gift shop and bought stretchy lizards.

Dressing up upstairs in old clothes was fun.

I think you would like to paint the car. It was an old car and you could paint it with paintbrushes.

I had a good time playing with the cars on the track. The cars were made from K'Nex. You could make your own car.

Nick - Age 7

What can I say about the Children's Museum? All I can say is 'Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.'

All my older siblings were busy doing some very cool things. It all looked so interesting that I was happy to follow around after them.

There were things for me to carry around EVERYWHERE. My favorite was a paint can with ping pong balls in it. The only thing more fun than carrying it around was dropping it. Oh, the noise!! And the little white balls went rolling everywhere! What Fun!

There was a little market where I got to actually take things off the shelf. I wonder if now I'll be able to do it in a real store.

There weren't a lot of other kids around either. A few to make friends with, but it was nice to not be shoved around.

There were neat sounds to listen to, but nothing overwhelming. I liked that. No one had to shout to be heard, and the sounds were pleasant mostly so I didn't get upset.

There was so much space to walk around too. (Even practice my running when I could.) And Dad could see me almost everywhere, so I got to wander a bit more than usual.

The only down side to my day was I didn't get to have a nap. We went out to pick up lunch, and I had a power nap in the truck, but it wasn't enough to get me through my day. The end of our afternoon, I was NOT in a good mood. We didn't stay too long after that.

There were diaper changing stations in both bathrooms. I love it when I get to spend those extra moments with Dad sometimes.

There wasn't a lot for me to climb on. In the second building, most of the things were too high for me and I had to be carried around. The first building was where all the fun things were and it receives my "two sippie cups up" rating for anyone in the toddler department.

Belle - Age 1

I liked where you pulled yourself up in a chair by pulling on the rope.

I liked sitting on a seat and bouncing to make a ball go up the tube.

There was a wheelchair race that I played on with Belle. You actually got to turn the wheels on the chair.

I didn't like the grocery store because I just had to sit there in the worker's place. I liked the pizza shop when I baked pizzas with Nick.

I had a great time pushing the buttons to drive the cars around the racetrack.

My favorite thing was the table where you blow balls up in the air and the balls float in the air. You should turn the tube and blow the air at your face. It makes your hair blow everywhere.
